Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains how the iHowz website uses cookies and similar technologies, and the choices you have.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently and to provide information to the site owners.
Cookies we use
Required cookies — these are necessary for the website to function and cannot be switched off. They are usually only set in response to actions you take (such as logging in or submitting a comment):
- WordPress login & session cookies (e.g.
wordpress_logged_in_*,wp-settings-*,wordpress_test_cookie) — keep you signed in to the member portal and remember your preferences. - Security cookies set by our firewall (Wordfence) — help protect the site and your account from abuse.
- Redirect cookie (
ihowz_portal_redirect) — remembers a members-only link you tried to open so we can return you to it after you log in. - Comment cookies (
comment_author_*) — only set if you submit a comment, to remember your name and email for follow-up comments.
Optional cookies — these are not required for the site to work. You can accept or reject them using the cookie banner shown on your first visit:
- Ad impression counter (
ihowz_imp_*) — used only to count how many times an advertisement is seen, and to avoid counting the same view twice in 24 hours. - Dismissal memory (
ihowz_upsell_dismissed) — remembers when you close a non-member upsell prompt so we don’t show it again straight away.
Cookies we do NOT use
We do not use Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Facebook Pixel, advertising networks (such as Google Ads or DoubleClick/DART), or any third-party tracking or profiling cookies.
What happens if you reject optional cookies?
If you reject optional cookies, the website continues to work normally. The only effects are minor:
- Advertisements may be counted more than once if you view them repeatedly, because the 24-hour rate-limit cookie cannot be set.
- A non-member upsell prompt you dismiss will reappear on your next visit, because we cannot remember the dismissal.
Logging in, accessing member documents, making payments, commenting, and all site security are unaffected, because they rely only on required cookies.
Managing cookies in your browser
You can also delete or block cookies through your browser settings. Note that blocking all cookies will prevent you from logging in to the member portal.
For more detail about how we handle your personal data, please see our Privacy Policy.
