What does Rishi Sunak’s reshuffle mean for housing?

The National Housing Federation has published a blog entitled ‘What does Rishi Sunak’s reshuffle mean for housing?’  It can be seen here.

It outlines the changes to Government roles:

  • Lee Rowley becomes Housing Minister, to replace a sacked Rachel Maclean.  This is the second time Rowley has this role, as he served the housing brief for around seven weeks in 2022 under former prime minister Liz Truss.
  • Simon Hoare became Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State in the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities

Additionally,

Victoria Atkins has been made the new Health Secretary, with Steve Barclay moving on to the role of Environment Secretary, replacing Therese Coffey.
Housing Today has also published an article on Lee Rowley – see here.  In a separate article it questions whether he can make a difference before the next election – see here.
