Ironmongery Direct have just published a blog entitled ‘Fire Door Hardware: Are You Compliant?‘
It can be seen here, and has the following 4 tips:
- Hinges
Ensure the door closes correctly around all parts of the frame, and check for CE marked 30 or 60 minute fire door hinges. Also, check for suitable intumescent pads which must ne used to comply with the regulations. - Closers
Does the closer shut the door firmly onto the latch? Check the door is no more than 5 degrees or 75mm from the frame in the closed position. - Gaps and seals
Check the gap around the door frame is consistent at around 3mm. Fit, or replace damaged intumescent seals at the top and sides of the door. When using smoke seals the brush or fin must completely fill the gap. - Signs
Blue fire door signs are mandatory, must be highly visible and have text relevant to the installation. They must also be used on both sides of the door.
